Welcome to the Front Page of the Atherstone and North Warwickshire News. We are a d online local newspaper for Atherstone and North Warwickshire Villages.
Atherstone and North Warwickshire have shared many historical events over the years. This includes being the town where Henry Tudor launched his assault on King Richard III, becoming Henry VII at the battle of Bosworth Field, off Fenn lane.
Atherstone at one time was a prosperous Hatting and Market Town, located on the A5. The A5 originally started as the Roman Road known locally as Watling Street. This brought Boudicca to the area, possibly to the Roman fort at Mancetter known as Manduessedum.
North Warwickshire lies on the Leicester and Staffordshire Boarders, and boasts some historical gems. The town was even listed in the Doomsday Book of 1086.
Today Atherstone is at the heart of North Warwickshire. Both the Atherstone Town Council and North Warwickshire Borough Council operate out of Atherstone. The Town plays host to a Summer Fare, Dickens Evening and the Historical Shrove Tuesday Ball Game. Atherstone is better seen on foot and parking is free in the central car parks. Walking around the town allows you to experience the true charm of this North Warwickshire Town.
